| GLASS-REINFORCED POLYMER (GRP) |
| Every
Crown Column & Millwork fiberglass column is made from specially
formulated glass-reinforced polymer
(GRP). Its unique formulation makes Crown columns both lightweight and strong. It results in a column that is easy to handle yet exceptionally water-resistant, impervious to moisture-related problems, decaying fungi and insect infestation. |
| Because
of their exceptional stability in adverse climates, Crown fiberglass
columns are an excellent selection for
all exterior and interior environments, including high-humidity environments such as bathrooms or for use in "Coastal" applications. |
| WIDE RANGE OF SIZES |
| Crown offers a wide range of fiberglass columns. Stock fiberglass columns, made from GRP, are available from 8"x8' through 16"x18'. Larger filament wound fiberglass columns are made from GRP in a unique manufacturing process and are available in sizes from 14"x16' through 30"x24'. |
| LIGHTWEIGHT AND STRONG |
| Strong dosen't have to mean heavy. Crown filament wound fiberglass columns are among the lightest columns on the market today. Their lighter weight makes them easier to handle and install, while supporting substantial loads. |
| LOW MAINTENANCE |
| Because of their resistance to degradation once installed and finished properly, Crown Fiberglass columns are among the lowest maintenance alternatives in column construction. |
| ARCHITECTURALLY CORRECT |
| Every Crown Fiberglass round column is manufactured with an architecturally correct taper, neck molding, capital and base. Each column shaft is produced with the lower one third of the shaft straight and the upper two thirds of the shaft tapered with a true architectural entasis. Entasis, attributed to ancient Greek architecture, is the slight convex curving of the column shaft resulting in the most pleasing appearance. |
| CAPITALS AND BASES |
| Crown fiberglass columns come with a Tuscan capital, Tuscan base, and plinth. Capitals and bases are virtually waterproof, rot resistant, and impervious to insect infestation. Optional Attic bases are available for columns from 8" through 30" in diameter. |
| For the most traditional installations, Crown Column & Millwork offers a full range of decorative capitals. Authentic reproductions of Empire, Empire with necking, Greek Angular Ionic, Greek Angular Ionic with necking, Greek Erectheum, Greek Erectheum with necking, Modern Composite, Roman Corinthian, Roman Ionic, Scamozzi and Temple of winds capitals are available. Not all designs are available in all materials. |
